Day 6: What's a fandom that you wish had a bigger following?

You know, I've been in a couple of mega fandoms back when the source material was shit hot, but these days I'm in a post-craze fandom and I much prefer that.

I'm not sorry to have missed all the SGA wank (cause the absolute dumpster fire that came with TXF and HP fandoms was a nightmare) and TBH I get a lot more out of the small community than I ever could out of the bigger ones I was drowned in.

So while more people would be cool, and I'm always thrilled to see new people on Tumblr and sharing fics on AO3, I'm happy with my fandom it as is.

There is something to be said about coming in after a series is done/after fandom has cooled. I mean when I first got into SGA it was in 2010 just after the series left the air, and I had SO MANY THINGS TO READ. But an accident with my iPad "read list" app deleted everything. Since then I've been reading much more leisurely instead of "If I don't read it now, it'll get deleted" franticness.

Oh, I totally agree. To me, a large fandom is just like a large crowd. I don’t do well in large groups of any kind. I also agree with seeing new people come into SGA. They dribble in, not swarm, and we usually get brilliantly talented people like yourself who enrich the experience of the whole group.

I struggle to have a voice in large groups. I always worry that I'm really uninteresting, which I know is dumb because everyone is interesting.

I'm very glad for what the SGA fandom used to be because there is so much to read, but relieved at how small and welcoming it is now. It's an easy place to fit in.
