About Me - Snowflake Challenge #1

My name is Wade, I'm LogicGunn on AO3 and Tumblr and a few other places. 33, She/Her.

I've lurked for a while in various fandoms all over the place (I started reading HP fanfiction in my early teens), but officially joined the SGA fandom last year when I started posting fics. 2019 was a bit of a difficult year for me personally, and I found I had a lot of empty time on my hands so I started writing more seriously than I had before and it's kind of exploded into something bigger than I expected which is totally awesome.

I'm here for the McShep but I respect your ships no matter what they are. At the moment I'm working my way chronologically through AO3's McShep fics (I'm on page 69 of 602 and growing) and I'm not skipping anything no matter the tags so that's a hell of a ride.

I live in Scotland with my wife and I'm a nursing assistant on a surgical ward. I have a BSc (Hons) in Biology and Math. Love coffee and eyeliner, piercings and tattoos and video games, and my first drafts always have too many commas in them.

I've never posted on DW before so this challenge is exciting.

Welcome to the Snowflake Challenge, and to DW! Your approach to wading through the McShep fics is AMAZING -- go, you! I was active in SGA when it was REALLY active, and I didn't manage to read everything!

There are SO many fics, and those are just the ones on AO3. I might never catch up...I kinda wish I was active in the SGA fandom when it was big, but I also kinda like the mellow pace it tumbles along at now.

I may have to get back into the McShep and SGA -- I have a few drafts of unfinished fic that I'm actually kind of percolating at the moment, so I hope to get some writing mojo and finish them this year. (the one that's closest to done is a John and Teyla gen fic, where Teyla ends up in an alternate universe due to a Gate malfunction, and John has been the only one left in Atlantis for several years by the point Teyla arrives. I know how it ends! I just have to write it!!)

Getting started is the hard part. Sometimes I just sit down in front of an empty page and write something, anything, to get my mojo flowing.

Your fic sounds fantastic. I'd love to read it when it's done.

Welcome to DW and Snowflake! I was in SGA briefly during its heyday, but now I'm on the periphery, reading fic that is posted/rec'd on my f-list. I miss those two crazy guys! *g*

I came into SGA from a fandom (which shall remain nameless) that ate its young. Ho boy! I was stunned by how sweet and generous folks are here. I hope you have the same experience I've had for the last decade and a half. The fans are why I'm still here. :D

My first fandoms, HP and The X Files, were ruthless. Particularly when it came to Snape. God, I do not miss that.

I'm in a state of "not actively in the fandom but if I came across it would read" with SGA (which I love dearly) and McShep particularly, but I'd definitely be keen to read more this year!

Reading your way through chronologically is an impressive feat to attempt! I wish you the best of luck (and would love to hear any insights you uncover from this exploration!)

I might do a post about it after the snowflake challenge. It's been a wild ride so far. I have nine pages of bookmarks, and some of them I didn't expect to like.

My first drafts always have far too many 'ands' in them. And sentences like this one which start with 'and' which is utterly dreadful - even when I know I'm doing it, I can't stop!

I have two approaches to the use of the word 'and'. Either I use it far too much, including beginning sentences with it, or I replace it with a comma and skip it altogether. Sometimes I do both in the same fic...

Welcome to Snowflake, I hope you enjoy it, it really is a fun challenge. Stargate Atlantis is one of my favourite fandoms and McShep is definitely my favourite pairing. As well as Snowflake I'm also trying to write my Romancing McShep fic but keep getting distracted by this challenge, lol.

Go you on working your way through the McShep fics on A03, that's quite a challenge in itself, there really are some fantastic stories out there, we've been richly gifted by the most fantastic authors in the fandom. I've been in SGA since the start (I came from SG1) and I know I haven't read everything there is to read yet. Enjoy!

I skipped SGA when it first aired so I only got into it a few years ago. When I wrote this post I was on 69 of 602, and now a year later I'm on page 185 of 628 (as well as reading all the new ones that comes along). I've read some absolutely fantastic fics this year. It's a pity places like Wraithbait are all dying a death, I'm sure there are so many awesome fics that haven't been relocated to AO3 and I'm missing out.
