Commit An Act Of Kindness - Snowflake Challenge #12

I'm back at work, and as a nursing assistant my entire job is nothing but acts of kindness. Today I comforted a man who just lost his wife, and performed the last offices on her. There's something kinda humbling about taking care of the deceased. There's a custom in Scotland, and I'm sure other places in the world, where you open the window to let the departed's soul out. I'm not one to believe in a soul, but I do it anyway because you can't always know the beliefs of your patients.

My wife is working nights for the next six nights and to take care of her I will make her something nice for dinner as often as I can. Night shift is difficult just by virtue of staying awake when your body is telling you to sleep. I'll miss her like heck though.

This is lovely. And I hope those night shifts slide by quickly for you and your wife. <3

That's pretty awesome of doing that for your patients. I know people who would probably go, "No, that goes against my beliefs, so I won't do it."

And yes, night shift can take it out on you. I *love* nights, though. I get so much more done!!!

It's a sweetly generous thing to do for the departed. I agree that caring for them shows our humankindness because they cannot possibly do anything for us in a tit for tat situation. Best wishes to you night people everywhere; what would we do without them?
