Fandom Wishlist - Snowflake Challenge #6

Things that I wish existed in fandom:

1. A way to know if the people who don't leave kudos enjoyed your fic (seriously, did you like it, hate it, something in between?)

2. A comprehensive list of fandom terms (what the heck is the difference between a fest and a bang?)

3. A high res 1920x1080 McShep desktop wallpaper

4. A random fic generator that recs a fic to you based on you ticking boxes with what you're in the mood for

5. A beta reader sign up page

6. A Stargate Atlantis specific forum or hangout place

Well #4 would fucking rock.

There used to be a beta comm on lj but idk how popular it was. Yuletide has a beta sign-up post but that's yuletide-specific.

Would fanlore help with 2? I wonder. A bang tends to be more of a everyone writes a long (10k-15k+) story and then artists get assigned to it. A fest can be an exchange or it can be prompts you pick up or it can be comment fic...

For #6: There's a SGA discord out there, but I don't participate in that... Chat isn't my thing, is all, I mostly just hang out on LJ, DW and I have a group of folk I hang out with elsewhere.

If you're not friends with popkin16 do that immediately... tell her I sent you. But she knows where *everything* SGA related lives and can help you get set up. She's here on DW and she's on Tumblr with the same name.

Ooh. Now I want #4. The closest thing I have right now is doing a lot of filtering on AO3? I search for a tag I'm in the mood for and then start clicking ticky boxes to exclude anything I don't want. I read this post last year and use a lot of the search tips on it to get a list of fic to browse through.

I love the idea of a random fic generator like that! Bonus points if there was an ability to mark fics as "read" or "seen" or something, and maybe some way to indicate whether you liked the fic that could then be used to improve selections? So many possibilities!!
